Counseling for divorce and codependency, for when you’re always the one giving

A divorce, a custody battle, or a relationship where everything goes one way can leave you exhausted and unsure of yourself. You don’t have to hold it all together alone.

What we can work on

Getting through a divorce

Grief, anger, relief and fear can all show up in the same day. We make room for all of it, and plan your next steps.

Custody and co-parenting stress

Co-parenting with a difficult or narcissistic ex is draining. Learn to stay steady, set limits, and protect your peace for your kids.

Codependency

If you’re always the one giving and almost nothing comes back, we look at why, and how to receive care too.

Big life changes

Getting married, blending families, or starting over. Change can stir up old patterns, even when it’s good.

Healthy relationships go both ways

In a healthy relationship, people ask for things, and they give things too. If you’ve learned to shut down because offering yourself got you hurt, that makes sense. Together we relearn how to trust the right people, and how to tell the difference.

Questions about relationship counseling

Can I go to therapy alone during a divorce?

Yes. Denise works with individuals, so this is your space, not a couples session. Many people use individual counseling to steady themselves, make clear decisions and look after their kids through a divorce.

What is codependency?

Codependency is a pattern of putting someone else’s needs, moods or problems ahead of your own so often that you lose track of yourself. It often starts as a way to keep the peace or stay safe. Counseling helps you care for others without disappearing.

How do I co-parent with a narcissist?

Keep communication brief, written and focused on the kids. Set clear boundaries and expect them to be tested. Counseling helps you stay calm under pressure and stop taking the bait, so your energy goes to your children.
